A white route is, in the telecommunications business, a legal termination route.
This is opposed to a black route, which is a route that uses illegal termination. Also common in telecom (especially VoIP) is the term grey route, which defines a route that is legal for one country or the party on one end, but illegal for the party on the other.

An example of the white/grey/black trichotomy is often seen in telecom routes from the USA to India. In India, a telecom monopoly is granted to a few large corporations. Hence, all legal (”white”) telecom traffic to the country is subject to the rates imposed by these corporations. To overcome this restriction for the purpose of achieving lower costs for consumers, and to make a profit in the process, many small parties set up VoIP routers in homes and offices around India. Telecom traffic from the USA is sent to these VoIP routers via TCP/IP and terminated to the local Indian PSTN. This process is illegal in India (”black”), but completely lawful in the USA (”white”). A route like this that is white on one end and black on the other is said to be “grey”.

San Miguel Mission, also known as San Miguel Chapel, is a Spanish colonial mission church in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Built between approximately 1610 and 1626 The church was damaged during the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 but was rebuilt in 1710 following the Spanish reconquest and served for a time as a chapel for the Spanish soldiers. The wooden reredos, which includes a wooden statue of Saint Michael dating back to at least 1709, was added in 1798. Though the church has been repaired and rebuilt numerous times over the years, its original adobe walls are still largely intact despite having been hidden by later additions. This church is often and incorrectly labeled the oldest church in the US. Sunday mass is still held at the chapel.

The term slack voice (or lax voice) describes the pronunciation of consonants with a glottal opening slightly wider than that occurring in “normal” (modal) voice. Such sounds are often referred to informally as lenis or half-voiced. In some Chinese languages (”dialects”) and in many Austronesian languages, the ‘intermediate’ phonation of slack stops confuses Western listeners, so that different transcription systems may use /p/ or /b/ for the same consonant. Although the IPA has no dedicated diacritic for slack voice, the voiceless diacritic (the under-ring) may be used.

Javanese contrasts slack and stiff voiced bilabial, dental, retroflex, and velar stops:

In the USA, a party admission, in the law of evidence, is any statement made by a declarant who is a party to a lawsuit, which is offered as evidence against that party. Under the Federal Rules of Evidence, such a statement is admissible to prove the truth of the statement itself, meaning that it constitutes an exemption or exclusion to the prohibition on hearsay - indeed, this is probably the most important category of exemptions to the inadmissibility of out-of-court statements. When the term “exemption” is used, though, it does not mean that the statement is an “exception” to the hearsay rule. Rather, a party admission is classified as “nonhearsay” by the Fed. R. Evid. 801(d)(2).

The statement is admissible even if the declarant had no basis for knowing the truth of the statement. For example, if an employee rushes to tell the director of a trucking company that one of his trucks has been in an accident, and the director says, “oh, we’re behaving so negligently, lately,” that statement will be admissible - even though the manager had no reason to know that this particular accident was the result of negligence.

The exemption permits one party to offer the out-of-court statement of any opponent party. It may not be used by a party to offer that party’s own out of court statement. However, under the common law doctrine of completeness, a party may possibly be able to admit some statements of their own, if a party admission exemption allows the opponent to admit part of a statement, and the first party wishes to admit the rest of that statement.

The party admission exemption does not formally, or informally, require that the admission be a representation against the party’s interest - a “statement against interest.” Those kinds of statements are covered by an exception to the hearsay rule, under Rule 804, and can be used by any party to admit the out-of-court statement of a legally unavailable witness. The basis for the exemption has nothing to do with judgments about the likelihood of a party making a false statement against his or her own interest. The basis is that if a party to a suit has made a statement, the opponent is entitled to admit the statement. It is different from other hearsay in that the party opponent is present and has an opportunity to contest or explain any such statements. The party admission rule furthers the truth-finding mission of the trial process.

The reach of Rule 801(d)(2) extends beyond simple statements of a party’s own making, which is exempted under 801(d)(2)(A). It also applies to statements made by others, if the party manifests belief and approval. FRE(801(d)(2)(B). Further, it applies to vicarious admissions - those made by a declarant authorized by the party to make the statement, or by a servant or agent, if it concerns a matter within the scope of the servant. FRE 801(d)(2)(C) and (D). Finally, it allows admission of any statement made by a co-conspirator in furtherance of the conspirator, provided there is independent evidence of the conspiracy’s existence. FRE 801(d)(2)(E).

With regard to adoptive admissions, even a party’s silence can be a basis for admitting evidence under this exception. In some jurisdictions, the court is required to let the jury consider whether the silence was an adoptive admission. See U.S. v. Sears, 663 F. 2d 896 (9th Cir. 1981)

Some states do not have the exemption/exception distinction, but even in these states, party admissions are generally admissible. See e.g. Cal. Evidence Code s. 1220.

The Irish Council of State met on 28 October, 1999 to advise President Mary McAleese on whether or not to deliver an address to the Houses of the Oireachtas on the subject of the new millennium. The proposal to deliver the speech was not a controversial one but the meeting had to be held because the constitution requires that the president consult the Council of State before delivering any address to the legislature. Following the meeting the president gave the address to a joint sitting of both Houses of the Oireachtas on 16 December, 1999.

The banjo clock, or more properly the banjo timepiece, is an American wall clock with a banjo-shaped case. It was invented by Simon Willard, originally of Grafton, Massachusetts, later of Roxbury, Massachusetts, and patented in 1802. The banjo timepiece is so named because it normally lacks a striking mechanism, an essential feature of a true clock, and indicates time only by its hands and dial.

The banjo style of wooden case usually features a round opening for a painted dial, a long-waisted throat, and a rectangular pendulum box with hinged door. Both the throat and door are ornamented with reverse-painted (verre églomisé) glass panels, and the case is usually flanked by curved and pierced brass frets. A finial mounted atop the case usually takes the form of a cast-brass eagle or a turned, giltwood acorn.

Only 4,000 authentic Simond Willard banjo clocks were made. The style was widely copied by other members of the Willard family of clockmakers and many others clockmakers, both craftsmen and industrial manufacturers. Variants of the banjo-style clock made by others include examples with square or diamond-shaped dials, and the extremely opulent, heavily gilt “girandole” style.

An e-mail hosting service is an Internet hosting service that runs e-mail servers.

E-mail hosting services usually offer premium e-mail at a cost as opposed to advertising supported free e-mail or free webmail. E-mail hosting services thus differ from typical end-user e-mail providers such as webmail sites. They cater mostly to demanding e-mail users and Small and Mid Size (SME) businesses that do not want to administer their own e-mail server. E-mail hosting providers allow for premium e-mail services along with custom configurations, large number of accounts and use of own domain name.

Most e-mail hosting providers offer advanced premium e-mail solutions hosted on dedicated custom e-mail platforms. The technology and offering of different e-mail hosting providers can therefore vary towards different needs. E-mail offered by most webhosting companies is usually more basic standardized POP3 based e-mail and webmail based on open source webmail applications like Horde or Squirrelmail. Mostly all webhosting providers offer standard basic e-mail while not all e-mail hosting providers offer webhosting.

In common law systems that rely on testimony by witnesses, a leading question is a question that suggests the answer or contains the information the examiner is looking for. For example, this question is leading:

You were at Duffy’s bar on the night of July 15, weren’t you?

It suggests that the witness was at Duffy’s bar on the night in question. The same question in a non-leading form would be:

Where were you on the night of July 15?

This form of question does not suggest to the witness the answer the examiner hopes to elicit.

Leading questions will generally be answerable with a yes or no (though not all yes-no questions are leading), while non-leading questions are open-ended. Depending on the circumstances leading questions can be objectionable or proper. The propriety of leading questions generally depends on the relationship of the witness to the party conducting the examination. An examiner may generally ask leading questions of a hostile witness or on cross-examination, but not on direct examination.

It is important to distinguish between leading questions and questions that are objectionable because they contain implicit assumptions. The classic example is:

Have you stopped beating your wife?

This question is not leading, as it does not suggest that the examiner expects any particular answer. It is however objectionable because it assumes (among other things) that the witness (1) was married and (2) had in fact beat his wife in the past, facts which (presumably) have not been established. A proper objection would be that this question assumes facts not in evidence or lacks foundation.

Propriety of leading questions

United States

While each state has its own rules of evidence, many states model their rules on the Federal Rules of Evidence, which themselves relate closely to the common-law mode of examination. Rule 611(c) of the Federal Rules of Evidence provides that:

Leading questions should not be used on the direct examination of a witness except as may be necessary to develop the witness’ testimony. Ordinarily leading questions should be permitted on cross-examination. When a party calls a hostile witness, an adverse party, or a witness identified with an adverse party, interrogation may be by leading questions.

Leading questions are the primary mode of examination of witnesses who are hostile to the examining party, and are not objectionable in that context. Examination of hostile witnesses usually takes place on cross-examination. As the rule recognizes, the examination of a “hostile witness, an adverse party, or a witness identified with an adverse party” will sometimes take place on direct examination, and leading questions are permitted.

In practice, judges will sometimes permit leading questions on direct examination of friendly witnesses with respect to preliminary matters that are necessary to provide background or context, and which are not in dispute; for example, a witness’s employment or education. Leading questions may also be permitted on direct examination where a witness requires special handling, for example a child. However, the court must take care to be sure that the examining attorney is not coaching the witness through leading questions.

Some exceptions to the no-leading-questions rule

Where the witness is hostile to the examiner, or reluctant or unwilling to testify (obviously the danger of suggestions disappears)

To bring out preliminary matters (name, occupation, and other pedigree information)

Necessity, as with either

A child witness; or

A witness who is ignorant, weak-minded, timid, or deficient in the English language

Where the memory of the witness has been exhausted and there is still information to be elicited.

In a sensitive area, to avoid the witness from testifying to incompetent or prejudicial matter

The call signaling protocol is one layer of the overall PacketCable suite of specifications and relies upon companion protocol specifications to provide complete end-to-end
PacketCable functionality

Network-based Call Signaling, based on the Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP), is the VOIP signaling protocol adopted by the CableLab as a standard for PacketCable embedded clients, which is a network element that provides:

•	Two or more traditional analog (RJ11) access lines to a voice-over-IP (VoIP) network.

•	Optionally, one or more video lines to a VoIP network

MGCP is a call signaling protocol for use in a centralized call control architecture, and assumes relatively simple client devices. The call signaling protocol is one layer of the overall PacketCable suite of specifications and relies upon companion protocol specifications to provide complete end-to-end PacketCable functionality.

NCS provides a PacketCable profile of an application programming interface (MGCI), and a corresponding protocol (MGCP) for controlling voice-over-IP (VoIP) embedded clients from external call control elements. MGCI functions provide for connection control, endpoint control, auditing, and status reporting. They each use the same system model and the same naming conventions.

The NCS profile of MGCP has been modified from the MGCP 1.0 in the following ways:

•	The NCS protocol only aims at supporting PacketCable-embedded clients. Functionality present in the MGCP 1.0 protocol, which was superfluous to NCS, has been removed.

•	The NCS protocol contains extensions and modifications to MGCP. However, the MGCP architecture, and all of the MGCP constructs relevant to embedded clients, are preserved in NCS.

•	The NCS protocol contains minor simplifications from MGCP 1.0

J.B. is a play in verse, written by Archibald MacLeish and published in 1958. Written in response to the horrors the author saw in the world around him (such as the Holocaust and the use of the atom bomb), it is based on the Book of Job from the Old Testament.

The play is set in a modern circus. Two vendors, Mr. Zuss and Nickles, begin the play-within-a-play by assuming the roles of God and Satan, respectively. They watch J.B., a wealthy banker, describe his prosperity as a just reward for his faithfulness to God. Scorning, Nickles challenges Zuss that J.B. will curse God if his life is ruined. The vendors observe as J.B.’s children and property are destroyed in horrible accidents and the former millionaire takes to the streets. J.B. is visited by three Comforters (representing History, Science, and Religion) who offer contradicting explanations for his plight. He declines to believe any of them, instead calling out to God to show him the just cause for his punishment. When finally confronted by the circus vendors, J.B. refuses to accept Nickles’ urging toward suicide to spite God or Zuss’ offer of his old life in exchange for quiet obedience to religion. Instead, he takes solace in his wife Sarah and the new life they will create together.

As a play, J.B. went through several incarnations before it was finally published. MacLeish began the work in 1953 as a one-act production but within three years had expanded it to a full three-act manuscript. The resulting work won the 1959 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Main Characters

J. B.: a play off of Job in the Bible; a man confronted by many tests of his faith in God

Sara: the “good Christian” wife of J.B.; shows hypocrisy of those who frown on other’s faith in God

Mr. Zuss: A balloon vendor in the circus who plays God.

Nickles: A popcorn vendor in the circus who plays Satan.

TelNEURO Technology

PC-based SIP VoIP solutions generally have problems with firewall traversal. The TelSIP product line boasts its user-friendliness because of the TelNEURO technology, developed applying the most advanced neuronal network algorithmic (Artificial Intelligence main motor) to the multiplicity of NAT scenarios and implementations deployed all over the Internet. As a result of this research, the final TelNEURO smart NAT traversal approach is an inventive, efficient and effective firewall traversal solution.

TelNEURO minimizes the possibility of an unsuccessful firewall traversal situation that will require a configuration setup from the user side, and helps TelSIP automatically configure itself within milliseconds.

Some of the most critical issues that the TelNEURO technology has overcome are:

IEEE 802.11 wireless networks. One of the most complex scenarios for WiFi VoIP connectivity is a two NAT network connection both with port-restricted NAT implementations. This TelNEURO advantage allows TelSIP users to place and receive calls from Notebooks connected to WiFi 802.11 wireless networks at airports, hotels, business centers, etc.

Residential and small enterprise full-cone NAT firewalls. Those are the majority of home and middle-size office used NAT firewall deployments. TelNEURO goes through them with no need of system administrator configuration at all.

Big Corporation’s symmetric firewall/NAT. TelNEURO analyzes the symmetric behavior and chooses the right approach to establish a successful TelSIP communication. If TelNEURO detects that the firewall blocks all connections, TelNEURO itself will change its behavior and use the resources available in the net allowing TelSIP to establish in and out communications through the network.

Sermo Lupi ad Anglos (Sermon of the Wolf to the English) was an address given by Wulfstan II, Archbishop of York to his congregation, delivered in Old English, in approximately 1000 CE.

The text of this address has survived, and now forms part of the canon of Old English literature.

In the address, Wulfstan warns his listeners of dire consequences, particularly the threat of foreign conquest, if they do not strive to live pious Christian lives. He draws an analogy between the England of his day and Britain at the time of Gildas, suggesting that the Anglo-Saxon conquest of Britain was due partly to sin on the part of the Britons, and that the Anglo-Saxons themselves now face a similar fate.

In telephony, call control refers to the software within a telephone switch that supplies its central function. Call control decodes addressing information and routes telephone calls from one end point to another. It also creates the features that can be used to adapt standard switch operation to the needs of users. Common examples of such features are “Call Waiting”, “Call Forward on Busy”, and “Do Not Disturb”.

Call control software, because of its central place in the operation of the telephone network, is marked by both complexity and reliability. Call control systems will typically require many thousands of person years in development. They will contain millions of lines of high level code. However they must and do meet reliability requirements that specify switch down time of only a few minutes in forty years.

The required functionality and reliability of call control is a major challenge for Voice over IP (VoIP) systems. VoIP systems are based on Internet standards and technology which have not previously attempted to satisfy such complex and demanding requirements as those that specify call control.

An alternative name often used is call processing.

In software engineering, a test suite (more formally known as a validation suite) is a collection of test cases that are intended to be used as input to a software program to show that it has some specified set of behaviors (i.e., the behaviors listed in its specification).

A test suite often also contains detailed instructions or goals for each collection of test cases and information on the system configuration to be used during testing. A group of test cases may also contain prerequisite states or steps, and descriptions of the following tests.

Collections of test cases are sometimes incorrectly termed a test plan. They may also be called a test script, or even a test scenario.

An executable test suite is a test suite that is ready to be executed. This usually means that there exists a test harness that is integrated with the suite and such that the test suite and the test harness together can work on a sufficiently detailed level to correctly communicate with the system under test (SUT).

A test suite for a primality testing subroutine might consist of a list of numbers and their primality (prime or composite), along with a testing subroutine. The testing subroutine would supply each number in the list to the primality tester, and verify that the result of each test is correct.

The counterpart of an executable test suite is an abstract test suite. However, often terms test suites and test plans are used, roughly with the same meaning as executable and abstract test suites, respectively.
